TWO MORE PATENTS ADDED TO WALLNER EXPAC’S INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY PORTFOLIO

New patented four-way ceiling diffusers now available

New, patented, four-way diffuser grillesONTARIO, Calif. – September 1, 2021 – Wallner Expac, North America’s largest manufacturer of light gauge expanded for air filters and the developer and manufacturer of X-Mesh®– the patented industry standard in filter media backing– is excited to announce that it has added two more patents to its intellectual property portfolio. These two design patents are for its new four-way ceiling diffuser grilles that offer a functional and decorative alternative to existing product offerings.

• U.S. Patent No. D921174 (for Decorative Patterns)
• U.S. Patent No. D921175 (for Standard Patterns)

Existing ceiling diffuser grilles feature a perforated screen or louvers. To provide architects, interior designers, HVAC system designers, or anyone who wants to improve the look of their interior space, Wallner Expac now offers its new, patented, four-way diffuser grilles. Central to the innovative design are the four individual expanded metal sheets- each rotated 90 degrees- allowing air to be distributed in different directions. These diffuser grilles are designed to not only seamlessly integrate into ceilings that feature Wallner Expac’s expanded metals, but also other types of ceilings without inhibiting the HVAC system’s cooling or heating properties.

However, functionality does not take a back seat to aesthetics. Using its own designed and built machinery, Wallner Expac manufactures all its expanded metals in its US-based, ISO-certified plants. This affords Wallner Expac to meet tight specifications needed for IAQ air distribution or intake requirements, open area mandates, specific sizes, and more. Powder coat or paint can be applied, and decorative expanded metal patterns can be used to further enhance the design and environment. Wallner Expac also manufactures single screen grilles.

Wallner Expac is now accepting orders and our on-site Engineering & Design Team is available for collaboration. More information can be obtained from our Ceiling & Wall Panels Info Sheet, and should you like to request samples, please contact Manuel Menchaca, Sr. Marketing Manager at mmenchaca@expac.com or (909) 736-4894.

Wallner Expac Becomes 100% Employee-Owned Through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP)

After 62 years of significant expansion and growth, Wallner Expac opens its next chapter

ONTARIO, Calif. – February 24, 2021 – Wallner Expac, Inc. (“Wallner Expac” or “the Company”) has completed a transaction to become 100% employee-owned through its newly-created Employee Stock Ownership Plan (“ESOP”). The Company was founded in 1959 in Southern California and with locations in Ontario, CA, El Paso, TX and Kennesaw, GA it is the largest expanded metal manufacturer in North America to produce light gauge material for metal backing used in air filters.

All eligible employees will be granted shares of Company stock each year, at no cost, allowing them to earn ownership over time through their service to the Company and accumulate tax-deferred retirement wealth. Paul Wallner stated, “Legacy was a critical factor in selecting a transaction, but equally as important was ensuring that anything we did as owners would also help the employees succeed.”

Wallner Expac was advised by Ambrose Advisors, a national investment banking firm specialized in employee-ownership transactions. Michael Harden, Senior Managing Director with AmbroseAdvisors, stated “The Wallner Expac Shareholders’ goal was to secure a sustainable future for the Company in a manner that would be highly beneficial to its managers, employees, clients, and the community. Employee ownership, when done right, benefits all stakeholders and should be celebrated. It is a true win/win transaction for all parties involved and we were pleased to be a part. PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT: PERFEX EXPANDED METAL

Perfex for Diffuser Grilles Applications

Perfex Expanded Metal

Commercial HVAC systems typically include a perforated vent diffuser grille. Wallner Expac offers an alternative that looks like perforated metal but has all the advantages of expanded metal: Perfex.

Perfex, our Product Spotlight for this quarter is not your traditional diamond-shaped expanded metal. With an innovative design and using a precision manufacturing process that does not punch the metal, Wallner Expac can produce expanded metal with an aesthetic circle finish.

WHY USE PERFEX AS DIFFUSER GRILLES?

Structual Stability and Pattern Uniformity
A key advantage of expanded metal over perforated is how it is manufactured. Using Wallner Expac’s Shear-Form® service of manufacturing, the metal is slit and simultaneously stretched instead of punching holes in it. This yields a high strength-to-weight ratio with pattern uniformity. Perfex is designed to allow maximum air circulation, leading to increased indoor air quality and efficient HVAC operations.

Less is More!
By slitting and stretching, the expanded metal process conserves material by providing a greater yield in finish product to raw. A typical yield of finished to raw product is 3:1 and often significantly more depending how much the metal is stretched.

Manufactured in the USA
As with all expanded metals from Wallner Expac, Perfex is manufactured to customer specifications in its California and Georgia facilities. It can be expanded in widths up to 48”, flattened, and even painted or powder coated. This combination of strength and aesthetics makes Perfex a great choice for applications such gates and fencing, pet guards, ceiling panels, partitions, and of course vent mesh for diffuser grilles.

Wallner Expac has over 50 decorative and standard expanded metal patterns- including our patented X-Mesh® and MicroForm™, all tunable to meet your needs. Should a new pattern need to be created, Wallner Expac’s on-site design and engineering team is available for collaboration. For a turnkey solution, our on-site tooling facility offers post-production metal forming services include flattening, stamping, surface grinding, Wire EDM, CNC machining, and more.

PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT: X-MESH® EXPANDED METAL

Patented light gauge expanded metal for residential, commercial, and industrial filters

X-Mesh UL

Every quarter we showcase one of our more than 60 expanded metal patterns, and with Spring around the corner allergies are soon to follow. Now is the time to change your HVAC filters to ensure optimal air quality, but not all filters are created equal. Kicking off 2020, this Product Spotlight features our patented X-Mesh® light gauge expanded metal which is specifically engineered for HVAC filters to provide peak performance, maximize product lifecycle, and increase environmental awareness by contributing to a healthier environment.

In 1975, known then as Wallner Tooling and Stamping introduced expanded metal as a replacement for welded wire used in filter media backing. This revolutionary pleated expanded metal material served the same purpose as the welded wire with a significant cost savings.

Over the years, we consistently refined this expanded metal resulting in X-Mesh®, the light gauge expanded metal manufactured specifically for use in HVAC filters. In 1994 X-Mesh® was awarded U.S. Patent No. 8,696,781. This new industry standard in filter media backing features a unique pattern that provides a superior product for residential, commercial, and industrial filters- with an added cost savings.

X-Mesh® Advantages Include:

◊  Stronger pleat back for a superior quality product

◊  Optimum filter performance as a result of pleat uniformity

◊  Improved airflow through a larger area

◊  Minimized spring back in pleat unit

◊  Consistent pleat height increases contact points between die cut and media

◊  Our Shear-Form® service of manufacturing increases the elongation of the SWD, arranging the strands in a direction favorable for pleating

◊  Multiple variants have been developed and are available, with the capabilities to create a version for your needs.

As with all expanded metals from Wallner Expac, X-Mesh® is manufactured to customer specifications in its four U.S.-based manufacturing plants: California, Texas, and two in Georgia. Over 60 standard and decorative patterns are available; however, should you need a new pattern, Wallner Expac’s on-site design and engineering team is available to collaborate, design and produce one for you. To complement our manufacturing, our on-site tooling facilities provide additional services including flattening, stamping, Wire EDM processing, CNC machining, powder coat, and more.

If you’re a filter manufacturer and would like more information or samples of X-Mesh® or any of our other expanded metals, please contact Manuel Menchaca, Sr. Marketing Manager at mmenchaca@expac.com or (909) 736-4894.

PRODUCT SPOTLIGHT: OASIS DECORATIVE EXPANDED METAL PATTERN

Oasis Pattern for Strength and Looks

Every quarter, we like to showcase one of our more than 60 expanded metal patterns, with this Product Spotlight featuring Oasis decorative pattern.

Most of our expanded metals feature a diamond-shaped pattern or variation of it. What makes our Oasis pattern unique are its curves: There are no sharp angles! This characteristic takes a detour from expanded metal’s traditional industrial look to a more aesthetic one.

But don’t let its good looks fool you. Manufactured using our Shear-Form® service of manufacturing our expanded metals, strength is not sacrificed for aesthetics. Oasis- like all our expanded metals- has a high strength-to-weight ratio, pattern uniformity, and has no points or welds that can separate. Manufactured to customer specifications, it’s available in widths up to 48” and strand widths and pitch can be optimized for use as solar shading, façades, privacy panels, and more.

Oasis is manufactured in our California and Georgia facilities. Additional decorative patterns include Apollo, Fiesta, Greco, Imperial, Mini Tahoe, Perfex, Pinnacle, Provincial, and Skip Meshes; should a new pattern need to be created, our on-site design and engineering team is available for collaboration. To complement production, available post-production services include flattening, stamping, powder coat, and pre-painted metals.
