Founded over 60 years ago, we have grown to become North America’s largest manufacturer of expanded metal for filters, and more. Wallner Expac has evolved from a stamping shop to a state-of-the-art, world class manufacturing entity with over 100,000 square feet across three locations. As a 100% employee-owned company, we attribute our success to quality craftsmanship, a highly skilled workforce, a dedicated management team, and our total commitment to total customer satisfaction.
1952 – Rudolf leaves Germany with his family and arrives in New York.
1959 – Rudolf moves to California and starts Wallner Tooling & Stamping.
1968 – Wallner’s first expanded metal machine prototype is developed.
1972 – Wallner Tooling & Stamping builds four expanded metal lines to produce automotive air filter outer and inner wraps.
1975 – Introduces expanded metal as a replacement for welded wire used in filter media backing.
1977 – Expac is created and becomes the supplier of HVAC material.
1978 – Land acquired in Rancho Cucamonga, CA for growth and what is to become company headquarters.
1980 – Wallner Tooling & Expac hosts a grand opening for its 16,000 sq. ft. facility.
1988 – Expac expands operations to Kennesaw, GA to support East Coast markets.
1990 – Expac merges with Wallner Tooling to form Wallner Tooling\Expac.
1997 – Rancho Cucamonga facility expands by 24,000 sq. ft. to accommodate HVAC growth.
1998 – Kennesaw facility expands by 23,000 sq. ft. to support continued growth of East Coast markets.
2001 – Wallner Tooling\Expac expands to South Korea by establishing a partnership with Samkwang Electronics Group forming Samkwang Wallner Co. LTD.
2004 – Wallner relocates to a newer building in Rancho Cucamonga to support freight logistics.
2007 – Wallner Tooling\Expac significantly increases HVAC production capacity through a strategic acquisition.
2013 – Wallner Tooling\Expac hosts an open house to showcase new equipment in the Diversified Products Division
2014 – Wallner Tooling\Expac awarded U.S. Patent No. 8,696,781 for X-Mesh®
2015 – A second Kennesaw, GA building opens exclusively for the Diversified Products Division.
2015 – Wallner Tooling\Expac rebrands its name to Wallner Expac.
2016 – New manufacturing plant opens in El Paso to support Midwest market growth.
2017 – Wallner Expac relocates and consolidates corporate headquarters to new, larger plant in Ontario, California
2019 – Wallner Expac launches MicroForm® expanded metal product line
2020 – As an essential manufacturer, Wallner Expac continues operations to provide filter manufacturers with needed expanded metals.
2020 – After 62 years of significant growth, company ownership is transferred to all employees, making Wallner Expac a 100% employee-owned company.
2021 – Georgia HVAC and Diversified Products Divisions are consolidated into one location.
2021 – Two more patents are added to its intellectual property portfolio for its new four-way ceiling diffuser grilles- U.S. Patent No. D921174 for Decorative Patterns; U.S. Patent No. D921175 for Standard Patterns.
From a small stamping house in Van Nuys, California to a worldwide corporation, founder Rudolf Wallner brought the company to where it stands today. By utilizing his mastery and skills gained from his experiences in Germany and the United States, Rudolf built a strong family business that continues to grow and diversify into new markets. His legacy serves as inspiration and guidance for both current and future Wallner Expac employees to embrace innovation and challenge themselves as well as the norm.
